There are some things that you must do before the coming of the holy month of Ramadan, which are:

■ Joy and pleasure at the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan: This is because the righteous servant receives the seasons of goodness and obedience with joy and rejoicing. So the faithful hearts rejoice, and the pure souls rejoice in the closeness of their Lord – the Mighty and Sublime.

■ Receiving the month of Ramadan with praise and thanks to God – Glory be to Him, the Most High: The arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan, and fasting it is one of the greatest blessings that God – Glory be to Him, the Most High – bestowed upon His servants; Therefore, the servant should praise and thank God a lot.

■ Sincerity of intention to God – Glory be to Him -: It is necessary to welcome the month of Ramadan by renewing the intention, and resolving to exploit the blessed times; And that is through commitment to obedience, avoidance of sins and bad deeds, purification of hearts, and sincere repentance, especially since God – Glory be to Him – rewards the servant for his intention.

■ Preparing in advance for the coming of the month of Ramadan: by educating the soul and accustoming it to acts of obedience, such as praying the night, fasting, and reciting the Holy Qur’an; until the psychological preparation is made to perform acts of worship in Ramadan without cost or hardship; It has been proven that the Messenger of God – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – used to fast for most of the month of Sha’ban; Preparing for Ramadan.

■ Sincere repentance: Although repentance is required at all times and times, and from any sin that a person may commit, it is considered necessary in the blessed month of Ramadan. As it is one of the seasons of goodness and obedience, and in fact, disobedience and sins are a reason for not being reconciled to obedience and worship. Because of them, a person may be deprived of the pleasure of being close to God and adhering to His commands. Therefore, the blessed month of Ramadan should be received; By renewing repentance, observing its conditions, which are: regret, determination not to return to sin, returning rights to their people, in addition to asking for forgiveness and asking God – Glory be to Him – for acceptance.

 

How to  prepare for Ramadan

 

■ Knowing the value of time: many precious times are lost due to ignorance of their value. Therefore, the Muslim must seize every minute in righteous deeds and acts of worship. Ibn al-Jawzi – may God have mercy on him – said: “A person should know the honor and value of his time, and it should be noted that the blessed month of Ramadan is one of the most precious moments.

■ Reducing food: Excessive eating leads to laziness in performing acts of worship, and lack of reverence when standing before God – Glory be to Him – and reducing food is one of the purposes of fasting.

■ Learn the provisions of fasting: the scholars have gone to the necessity of learning the provisions of fasting for everyone who is obligated to fast; Ignorance of the provisions of fasting, its etiquette, and its conditions is one of the reasons that may deprive a Muslim of reward and reward. Perhaps someone who has a legitimate excuse that necessitates his breaking his fast may fast, and perhaps the slave fasted and he only gained hunger and thirst from his fast. For his ignorance of the provisions of fasting.

 

Ramadan is a chance for change

From God – Glory be to Him – upon His righteous servants in blessed times in which wages are multiplied, the atmosphere of faith spreads, and souls transcend, and among those times is the blessed month of Ramadan, which is an irreplaceable opportunity for repentance, renunciation of sins, and renewal of faith in the hearts, and the Muslim should prepare psychologically. To receive Ramadan, it is necessary to take advantage of this great opportunity that God – the Almighty – has granted to those who have transgressed against themselves through disobedience and sins. Let them repent and seek forgiveness from their Lord before death comes to them, so they regret their negligence and neglect of the command of God – Glory be to Him.
