Prayer or salah or silah in religions is the link between man and his Lord, as it addresses man or directs him to his Lord through it. Prayer has been known since the dawn of history, as prayer differs in its method, number of times, causes and rulings from one religion to another.

Prayer or salah or silah in Islam is the second pillar of Islam, and in the hadith: “On the authority of Ibn Umar, may God be pleased with him, he said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, say: “Islam is built on five: testifying that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God, establishing prayer, and paying zakat.” Fasting Ramadan, and pilgrimage to the House of those who are able to do so.” He also said: “The head of the matter is Islam, and its pillar is prayer, and its pinnacle is jihad for the sake of God.” It is the first branch of religion for the Shiites, and prayer is obligatory for every Muslim, adult, sane, male or female, and prayer was made obligatory in Mecca before the Prophet’s migration. Muhammad to Medina in the second year before the Hijrah, during the Night Journey and Al-Miraj.

In Islam, prayer is performed five times a day. It is obligatory for every sane adult Muslim who is free of excuses, whether he is male or female. In addition to prayers performed on different occasions, such as: the two Eid prayers, the funeral prayer, the rain prayer, and the eclipse prayer. And prayer is the means of the servant’s intimacy with his Lord, and it is a link between the servant and his Lord.

The importance of prayer

Prayer or salah or silah is of great importance in the life of the believer, as it is the address of the obedient Muslim, and the way of connection for the humble believer. Only a believer preserves it, and only a lazy or a lecherous hypocrite takes care of it. The scholars differ in the ruling of the one who abandons it, and they are unanimously agreed that whoever abandons it is ungrateful, then he has disbelieved, and that whoever neglects it With it laziness and negligence, he has become immoral, and that the one who abandons prayer has no guarantee of a good end, he has exposed himself to loss, except that his immediate repentance and regret, and because of the great importance of prayer did not fall from the sick and that he licensed him to pray according to his condition, even the prayer was not excused by the fighter in war He is in front of the enemy, and therefore it is the first thing that a servant will be asked about in the grave, and therefore the one who maintains prayer reaps the many benefits and fruits through its blessing.

The benefits of prayer

Prayer or salah or silah has great benefits, and great fruits, which are missed by those who did not observe this timed obligation, and it included religious, heart, psychological, social and other benefits, and these benefits include:

1- Prayer is a rest for the heart and reassurance for the heart and soul.

2- Prayer is a light for man, and his share of the light of God Almighty, as much as he prays, will be illuminated because of him in his life and he will feel peace and connection with his Creator.

3- The righteousness of the work is in proportion to the righteousness of the servant’s prayer.

4- Whoever keeps it has a covenant with God that he will enter Paradise

5- Prayer is a safety from panic and anxiety, an initiative to goodness and a distance from greed.

6- Prayer helps the servant to stop from indecency and wrongdoing, God Almighty said.

7- One of its benefits is that it forgives sins and what the believer commits during the day and night.

8- It has social benefits, especially what God has ordained of congregational prayer, Friday and the two Eids, where the believers meet at the level of one neighborhood every day five times in the congregational prayer, and they meet in the same town once a week for the Friday prayer, and twice a year on the two Eids at the town level. The great, and this is one of the goals of Islam in legislating closeness and love and emphasizing cooperation, mercy and visiting, and the Companions used to visit after the prayer those who did not attend the prayer with them and they expected that his failure was because of something bad that happened to him, so he meditated.

9- The person who prays will be known on the Day of Resurrection by being dumbfounded and tarnished, as a result of ablution.

10- Prayer has health and psychological benefits that a person who maintains prayer obtains, but the greatest benefit, after all of the above, is that the servant feels servitude, which is the honor of the sane believer who has no one but his Creator.

Punishment for neglecting Prayer or salah or silah

1- A bad end, with a life of dengue

2- Loss and regret on the Day of Resurrection

3- The one who neglects prayer is promised a valley in Hell called the Valley of Woe.
